Bring marble’s organic beauty into your kitchen
When you see kitchens that use marble to its fullest extent, you can understand what the great artist Michelangelo was getting at. Formed over millions of years into unique pieces of natural art, the beauty of marble makes it the gateway to kitchen greatness.
As with any naturally occurring kitchen material, marble comes with its own set of assets and challenges (the latter of which can be dealt with through proper maintenance). On one hand the organic beauty of marble can be translated to a variety of kitchen styles. White marble with generous dove grey streaking glows in a light kitchen. Buttery beige brings cosiness to a grand space resplendent with dark wood cabinets.
On the other hand, if not sealed properly upon installation, or maintained with regular resealing, marble can stain and scratch. However, there’s no reason not to use it as a countertop if cutting boards are used and spills are wiped up. Also, marble comes in a variety of options to suit different lifestyles. For example, busy kitchens benefit from durable matte finish marbles, rather than polished.
If there is one area of the kitchen where the rich beauty of marble cannot be rivalled however, it is the floor. Real marble tiles are simply magnificent, giving off a sense of grandeur wherever it is laid. Furthermore, the versatility of marble-tile allows it to flow easily throughout the house. An ideal option for open concept homes to be sure!
If you (unlike Michelangelo) are hesitant about taking the marble plunge, select a key focal point in which to showcase the material. For instance, a kitchen island topped with a carefully selected slab of Carrara marble is a great way to bring the beauty of marble to your home.
In all of this was not enough to convince you of marble’s many charms, perhaps this will: marble is known to add instant resale value to your home. Talk about an investment for the ages!
