These simple tips can help you store your fish so it stays fresh, and doesn’t end up in the trash.
1. Wash it
Wash fresh fish with water and dry thoroughly with a paper towel. This washes away any bacteria it may have come into contact with on the way home. Packaged fish should be free of juices or leaks.
2. Use an airtight container
Fresh fish can cause a stink in the refrigerator if it is not properly sealed. Wrap it properly in aluminium foil or use an airtight container to stop it from contaminating the rest of your food.
3. Keep it cool
Fresh fish needs to be kept very cool to make sure it doesn’t rot. Grundig’s Freshmeter technology is made to control airflow and temperature to keep fish fresh. You can also store fresh fish in the fridge by surrounding it with ice. If you don’t plan on eating it within a few days, it is recommended to freeze it.
4. Prioritise it
Make you are careful when handling fish. Take special care to make sure it is not exposed to warm air, other food or meat, and make sure you treat it delicately.
So keep your fish fresher for longer with these simple tips, and stop it from becoming an impact on the planet.
