Lemon Peel Custard

A Bright and Tangy Dessert Base

This Lemon Peel Custard recipe incorporates lemon peel powder made from oven-dried lemon peels for an intensely citrusy flavor. Turmeric adds a lovely color and an earthy taste, while vanilla extract gives the custard a warm, comforting aroma. Use this custard as a delightful filling for cakes and pies, or as a base for ice cream and other chilled desserts.

Preparation time/ Cooking time:

10 minutes/ 30 minutes

  • 5 lemon peels

  • 1 L milk

  • 85 g sugar

  • 30 g butter

  • 20 g flour

  • 16 g starch

  • 3 g turmeric powder

  • 5 g vanilla extract

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  • Carefully remove the yellow part of the lemon peels using a knife.

  • Spread the lemon peels on a baking tray and dry in the oven for about 20 minutes. Let them cool.

  • Once cooled, transfer the dried lemon peels to a blender or food processor and grind into a fine powder.

  • Store the lemon peel powder for use in teas, detox water, and desserts. Enjoy the zesty flavor it adds to your creations!

  • In a saucepan, combine the flour, sugar, milk, starch, turmeric, and lemon peel powder. Mix well.

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.

  • Add the butter and vanilla extract to the custard and continue stirring until the butter is completely melted.

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the custard cool before using in your preferred dessert.

  • Enjoy this Lemon Peel Custard in cakes, pies, ice cream, or even on its own!
