Preparation time:

15 minutes



  • 2 shots of espresso 
  • 480 ml milk
  • 40 g dark chocolate, chopped.
  • 20 g cocoa powder
  • 20 g honey
  • 5 g ground cinnamon
  • 5 g cayenne pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream



  • Brew 2 shots of espresso in a coffee machine.

  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling.

  • Add the chopped dark chocolate and honey to the saucepan and whisk until fully melted and combined with the milk.

  • Add the espresso to the saucepan and whisk again to incorporate.

  • Sprinkle in the cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt. Whisk vigorously to ensure all the ingredients are well combined and smooth.

  • Once the hot chocolate is smooth and heated through, remove from heat.

  • Pour the spicy hot chocolate into two mugs.
