Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 12 chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup dried currants
  • 1/4 cup chopped candied fruit peel
  • 1 zested orange
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

  1. Grease the container where you'll be making the pudding.
  2. In a large saucepan, mix the butter, sugar, milk, dates, raisins, and fruit-peels like orange and leave them to boil.
  3. After it boils, take it off the fire and add in the baking soda. Then, sift the flour, cinnamon, and salt in. Mix well and transfer into the container you've prepared.
  4. Cover the top with baking paper and steam cook it for 2 hours. Your pudding is ready.
